Prosecutor General visited Paruyr Hayrikyan

Armenia’s Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan visited presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan and talkes to him. Hovsepyan also talked to the doctor about health state of the politician.

Prosecutor General’s Office said Aghvan Hovsepyan had sent a written instruction to the police and investigation department of the National Security Service to form a joint investigation team, given that the case is complicated and it is necessary to carry out the investigative activities.

The case is assigned to the investigation department of the National Security Service. A 7.62-mm-caliber bullet discovered at the site and that removed from Hayrikyan’s chest had been sent to an expertise.

To note, an assassination attempt was made against Paruyr Hayrikyan on January 31 at around 11:20pm in downtown Yerevan, in front of his home. Hayrikyan was shot and hospitalized with a gunshot wound. Hayrikyan underwent a successful surgery on February 1st morning.

A criminal case is opened in connection with the assassination attempt under Article 34-305 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (attempted murder of state, political or public figure, committed to stop his activities, will be punished by imprisonment for a term of twelve to twenty years or life imprisonment).
