John Kerry swears in as new head of US Department of State

Senator John Kerry (D-MA) was sworn in as the next US Secretary of State during a closed ceremony that was held at the Capitol.
US Supreme Court Associate Justice Elena Kagan administered the respective oath to Kerry, US State Department Spokesperson Victoria Nuland informed.
Thus, John Kerry has become the 68th US Secretary of State, Lenta.ru reports.
Earlier on Friday, Clinton in her farewell speech called his job as chief diplomat in the country, "a unique, exciting and challenging" experience.
