Tito Vilanova will stay in New York until the end of March

The Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova, will be in New York until late March for treatment of cancer padece.Vilanova, who came to the U.S. city on January 21, will remain at Memorial Sloan Kettering in Manhattan to end sessions radiotherapy and chemotherapy for his throat cancer, according to the DPA news agency confirmed sources close to the Catalan club.

Former assistant Josep Guardiola has very short rest periods between sessions, so the plane ride eight hours between New York and Barcelona could alter treatment. So, Vilanova will miss the second leg of the semifinals of the Copa del Rey against Real Madrid (February 27) and the two games against Milan, for the knockout stages of the Champions League (February 20 and 12 March). Jordi Roura, assistant Vilanova, will remain in charge of Barca bench on an interim basis.
