Artsvin Baghramyan: "Paruyr Hayrikyan is recognized as injured party"

Armenian presidential candidate, National Self-Determination Union Chairman Paruyr Hayrikyan was questioned along the lines of the criminal case that is opened into the assassination attempt that was staged against him. Operative investigation activities are being conducted and the respective investigation is in progress. Press Secretary of NSS Artsvin Baghramyan told this to NEWS.am. He added that Hayrikyan is recognized as the injured party.

As NEWS.am informed earlier, On Jan. 31, the candidate for presidency of Armenia, Paruyr Hayrikyan was shot in the shoulder on Tpagrichneri Street in the centre of Yerevan. Hayrikyan was hospitalized with a gunshot wound. He underwent a successful surgery on the morning of February 1, and a bullet was removed.

A criminal case was filed upon Articles 34 and 305 of the Armenian Criminal Code. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for 12-20 years, or life in prison. The National Security Service is conducting the investigation.
