Frank Lampard paid tribute to his team-mates following a stunning 2-1 victory over Brazil at Wembley.
The Chelsea midfielder scored a superb winning goal after coming on as a substitute after the break, while Wayne Rooney also found the net in the first half against the five-times world champions to complete a famous win.
Lampard said: "The lads who completed 90 minutes deserve a lot of credit, because Brazil can't half move the ball.
"There was a great work rate out there and we've got the win."
When asked if it was England's best performance under Manager Roy Hodgson, Lampard added: "Well, we've played some very good games against lesser opposition.
"But when you play against teams like this, you have to work hard. We did that.
"Maybe they missed chances, but we did well and we could have scored more."
Lampard was also hugely impressed with man-of-the-match Jack Wilshere, who was outstanding in midfield throughtout the game.
The Arsenal ace is only recently back from a long-term injury and Lampard is impressed by his comeback.
He said: "Jack Wilshere is a fantastic player, his technical ability, his quality on the ball, he is going to be a massive player for England and in the world.
"The important thing now is consistency in the group matches. We can't get carried away but it's a long time since we beat Brazil so it's a lovely feeling."
