Electronic voting has been launched at 08:00 local time on Saturday within Armenian presidential elections for representatives of the Armenian diplomatic missions abroad and their families, RIA Novosti reported.
The voting will last five days and end at 20.00 February 13. Some 243 people appear in the lists for electronic voting, who were given relevant personal codes and envelopes with guidance on electronic voting late last year. The voting will take place online through a special program on the website of Armenian Central Election Committee. The results of electronic voting will be announced following completion of voting in Armenia at 20:00, February 18.
The CEC meeting held on February 8 approved a sample ballot for electronic voting. According to the CEC chairman Tigran Mukuchyan, people can vote multiple times and change their selection, however, the system will consider only the most recent version of the ballot.
This voting format was first used during parliamentary elections in May 2012.
The sixth Armenian presidential election will be held on Feb.18 from 08:00 to 20:00 local time. The head of state is elected for a term of five years.
