Head of the Syrian National Council George Sabra said that the explosion that occurred yesterday at the Cilvegozu checkpoint on the Turkish-Syrian border was directed against his convoy, Al Arabiya TV channel reported today.
He said Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime deliberately carried out an attack on the border when he was heading to Turkey along with a delegation of the Syrian National Council.
The death toll as a result of an explosion in the province of Hatay killed 13 people, three of whom were Turkish and 10 were Syrian. Around 27 more were injured, nine of them Turks.
A powerful explosion occurred in a car bomb attack bearing a Syrian licence plate.
The car was travelling from Syria to the Turkish province of Hatay through the Cilvegozu checkpoint on the Turkish-Syrian border near the town of Reyhanlı. The car was parked in a parking lot where deliveries of humanitarian aid are made to Syria. The explosion occurred at 15:00 local time.
