Man Utd set to miss out on No 1 striking target this summer

Manchester United look like missing out on Borussia Dortmund front man Robert Lewandowski this summer after former Bayern Munich captain Lothar Matthaus claimed the Pole was heading to the Allianz Arena instead.
United have reportedly been keeping close tabs on the in-form striker for some time now, with the Red Devils believed to be set to make a move for the player at the end of this season.
However, Matthaus’s claims may now put an end to those plans.
“I have heard that Lewandowski and his management have already reached an agreement with Bayern,” Matthaus told Sky.
Lewandowski is a player who, I believe, fits into the Guardiola system more than Gomez,” he said. “Against Leverkusen last week, he showed Guardiola how you not only play up front but also open the game from midfield.”
