300 and counting for magnificent Messi
Sport
One hundred, two hundred, three hundred goals; Leo Messi set a massive record in Granada, a real Barcelona milestone. At the precocious age of 25, Messi has scored an unbelievable 300 goals for the club: 205 in 'La Liga', 24 in the Cup, 10 in the Spanish Super Cup, 56 in the Champions League, 4 in the Club World Cup and 1 in the European Super Cup.
It was only fitting that it should happen in Los Cármenes, a stadium that had until now managed to escape his goalscoring prowess unscathed. There can be little doubt that Messi is hell-bent on smashing every record there is to be broken.
Following his goal in Granada, in his 365th competitive appearance for Barcelona, this only leaves the Cornellá-El Prat stadium for him to conquer, the home of Barça's closest rival, Espanyol. If Messi manages to score there he will have been on target at least once at all the stadiums of the clubs that currently play in the first division.
What's more, Messi has managed to get off the mark in fourteen games in a row and is the first player in 'La Liga' history to have scored in ten consecutive away games.
Leo currently tops the 'La Liga' goalscoring charts with 36 goals, putting him well on course to surpass the 50 he managed last season, considering that there are still fourteen more games to play till the end of the season.
