Bolivian President Evo Morales said on Thursday he was not allowed to visit President Hugo Chavez in hospital in Venezuela two days ago, the Caracas-based El Universal daily said on Thursday.
“We talked to doctors, they told us that he is resting, that he is still undergoing a course of treatment,” the paper quoted Morales as saying to journalists at the UN headquarters in New York.
The Bolivian president expressed hope for Chavez’s soonest recovery.
Reports that Chavez has returned home after more than two months of cancer treatment in Cuba surfaced on Monday.
Chavez, who has ruled Venezuela for 13 years, has had four operations for cancer and four courses of chemotherapy in Cuba and Venezuela within the past two years. His fourth operation, to remove cancerous tissue, took place in Cuba on December 11.
