Dashnaktsutyun party: "Vast majority of Armenian people do not accept current regime."

The supreme council of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun has issued a statement on the presidential elections, 7or.am reported.

"Following the presidential election held in Armenia on February 18 and after analyzing current information and the preliminary results of Armenian CEC, the supreme body of Dashnaktsutyun is presenting its assessment. On February 18, Armenian citizens proved that their patience has limits, that they deserve a better life and that it is impossible to hinder popular pursuit of justice and freedom, "the statement said.

According to the party, the people's protest was a response to the current political, social and economic situation as well as the country's moral atmosphere.

"It was a response to the self-righteous behavior of authorities who pretended that they have the trust and support of an absolute majority. However, it became apparent that the vast majority of the people do not accept the current regime. This time, the unlimited administrative and financial resources of authorities used during parliamentary elections were complemented by many violations during vote counting. The elections promised to be the best in the history of elections proved to be the worst. The election results proved to be the truth behind our belief that the outcome of the election was predefined and the assessment of international observers was predictable, "the party's statement said.

Presidential elections were held in Armenia on Feb.18. The incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan won the presidential elections winning 58.64 per cent of the vote. The First Foreign Minister of Armenia Raffi Hovannisian ranked second winning 36.75 per cent, while former Prime Minister Hrant Bagratyan ranked third won 2.15 per cent.
