Russia marks the 400th anniversary of the founding of the Romanov dynasty. The Romanov ruled the country from 1613 until the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917.
On February 21 (Julian calendar), 1613, the 16-year-old boyar Mikhail Feodorovich ascended the throne.
The Moscow Kremlin museums have unveiled a facsimile edition of the 17th century manuscript which describes the crowning.
Celebrations are being held in Saint Petersburg. A requiem service was held at the Romanov tomb at the Cathedral of Saint Peter and Saint Paul.
