5 U.S. states crippled by snow
USA
Heavy snowfall in the central United States on Thursday caused the closure of offices of state institutions and complicated the situation on the roads according to the AFP.
The states affected by the blizzards are Colorado, New Mexico, Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas.
On Thursday almost 40 centimeters of snow fell in these states with the authorities fearing that the heavy snows may lead to the falling of power lines.
The severe driving conditions have caused the deaths of two people. Both died in separate accidents when drivers lost control on icy roads with poor visibility.
