Centre to use drugs to open in Paris
Աշխարհ
The French will soon be able to use drugs at centres that will be built expressly for the purpose.
The first such centre is due to open in Paris by this summer. France will thus become the world’s ninth country to have boasted this kind of centre.
Speaking of Europe, Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain, Norway and Switzerland have had such centres for some time now.
The opponents have referred to the decision as a “moral defeat”.
When commenting on the problem in an interview with the Voice of Russia, the Secretary-General of the nongovernmental organization Europe against Drugs, Fay Watson, points out a number of shortcomings in the stand on the issue.
She feels that those who claim that they will be able to control drug consumption are absolutely wrong, and medical workers should realize this.
Centres like this will encourage people to remain addicted to drugs. Nor will they encourage addicts to cope with the causes that made them start using drugs, or offer any rehabilitation opportunities.
