French actor Gerard Depardieu who has recently become a Russian citizen was welcomed in the Russian region of Mordovia where he gained residence permit Saturday, Ria reports.
The actor has praised his new home when receiving the passport with Mordovian registration.
This region is rich not of oil and gas but ambitious and talented people, said the actor.
Depardieu plans to build a house and open a restaurant in the republic.
