Moscow to promote Russian language in Kyrgyzstan

Moscow will send some 1 mln ruble worth textbooks and manuals in Russian to Kyrgyz schools and colleges as part of the Russian Language federal program, representative of the International Humanitarian Cooperation Agency (Rossotrudnichestvo) in Kyrgyzstan told reporters Saturday.
According to the official, supporting and promoting Russian language and culture in the republic is the Agency’s priority.
Russia has also allocated several million rubles as part of a UNICEF project to publish school books in Russian.
According to polls, 80% of the Kyrgyz consider Russian to be their second language.
