Berlusconi recognizes victory of centre-left coalition in election to lower house of parliament

The former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has recognized the victory of the centre-left coalition in the election to the lower house of parliament, the Chamber of Deputies.

He said he would give a thought to forming a coalition with them. But he emphasized that under no circumstances would he form a coalition with the centrists under Mario Monti.

According to earlier reports, the centre-left coalition under Pier Luigi Bersani has won more than 50% of seats in the Chamber of Deputies. But none of the parties has managed to secure a majority in the Senate.
