March in defence of children under way in Moscow
Russia
A march in defence of children is under way in the Russian capital. It is due to end in a rally in the centre of Moscow.
Up to 5,000 people are expected to attend. The procession was prompted by the death of an adopted Russian boy, Maxim Kuzmin, in the United States.
The organizers, the international public movement Russian Mothers, demand that adoptions of Russian children by foreigners be suspended, that Maxim’s brother, Kirill, be returned to Russia from the US, and that adoptions be made easier in Russia.
The idea of holding the march is said to have been supported by more than 80 public organizations and alliances, Voice of Russia reports.
