Russia may restart importing Georgian wine
Russia
Russia’s Chief Sanitary Inspector Gennady Onischenko says that Georgia is likely to restart export of its wines and mineral water to Russia in the next few weeks.
How fast this will be will depend on how fast Georgia would cope with the registration routine.
Recently, a group of Russian experts returned from Georgia, where they inspected about 400 plants that produce wine and mineral water. Besides several minor objections, they are satisfied with the Georgian products, Mr. Onischenko says.
Russia ceased to import Georgian wines and mineral water in 2006 because of the then Georgian President’s Mikhail Saakashvili’s anti-Russian policy.
