Mourinho: "United were the special ones."
Sport
Jose Mourinho insisted Manchester United deserved to be in the Champions League quarter-finals after a night of controversy at Old Trafford.
United led Real Madrid through a Sergio Ramos own goal and were completely in control until Nani was sent off in the 56th minute for catching Alvaro Arbeloa with a high boot.
After that, goals from sub Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo — on his return to his old club — earned Real a 2-1 win to put them through 3-2 on aggregate.
But Real boss Mourinho said: “We didn’t play well and didn’t deserve to win. But football is like this. I’m not talking about the decision as I’m not sure about it.
