Nicolas Maduro to take oath as Acting President of Venezuela

Venezuelan Vice President Nicolas Maduro is to be officially sworn in as interim leader on Friday. This was announced by legislature chief Diosdado Cabello.

As reported earlier, President Hugo Chavez, who died on Tuesday, named Maduro as his successor.

Meanwhile, Venezuela's constitution specifies that upon Chavez's death, Cabello should have become interim president and new elections called within 30 days.

President Chavez will be honored at a state funeral Friday.
