Sistine Chapel chimney installed

Firefighters working in the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel have installed the chimney the color of smoke from which will signal the election of a new Pope.

White smoke indicates an inconclusive vote. Black smoke rising from the chimney tells the Roman Catholics that they have a new Pontiff.

The conclave to pick a new Pope is scheduled for next Tuesday. One hundred and fifteen Cardinals are to take part.

Pope Benedict XVI formally stepped down on February 28, Interfax reports.
