An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale has shaken Pacific seabed off the uninhabited northern Kuril island of Simushir.
The focus of the quake was located 33 kilometers below the bottom.
People in the nearest population centers did not even feel the tremor.
No tsunami alert was declared.
