Kumbh Mela festival brings together 120 mln pilgrims
World
More than 120 million pilgrims washed away their sins with plunges in an Indian holy river during what is billed as the world’s biggest religious festival, news reports said on Sunday.
The 55-day Kumbh Mela festival is celebrated every 12 years at the conjunction of two sacred rivers on the outskirts of the Indian city of Allahabad.
This year’s festival was marred by a stampede at a train station in Allahabad that killed 36 pilgrims last month, Lenta.ru reports.
