Venezuela presidential elections to be held on April 14

Early presidential elections in Venezuela have been set for April 14, the National Electoral Commission announced after an emergency meeting on Saturday.
The commission was convened on direct orders from Acting President Nicolas Maduro who was sworn in on Friday.
The commission will also make all necessary preparations for the upcoming presidential campaign.
The opposition is pinning high hopes on its own candidate – Miranda State governor Henrique Capriles.
In last year’s elections Capriles lost out to Chavez who succumbed to cancer on March 6.
The authorities’ have decided to place his embalmed body in the Revolution Museum in Caracas.
