Henrique Capriles has agreed to the proposal of the Venezuelan opposition to become its single candidate at early presidential elections on April 14.
"Tomorrow I will register as a candidate and will fight for every voter" - he said Sunday at a news conference.
Convening early elections due to the death of President Hugo Chavez, the Central Electoral Council has given only two days to nominate candidates - 10 and 11 March.
The election campaign is also set a tight deadline, from 2 to 10 April.
At presidential elections in Venezuela last October, Capriles lost to Chavez, having secured 44% of the votes. Following this, he was re-elected governor of Miranda state.
