Islamized Armenians reach up to 1.5 million in world.

There are around 1.5 Armenians worldwide who have adopted Islam, participants of a conference on religious issues in Yerevan said. 

Other than Islamized Armenians, there are around 500 Armenians who are adherents of the Catholic Church, and around 180,000 Armenians who belong to the Evangelical Church. 

The majority of Armenians belong to the Armenian Apostolic Church. 

The conference focused especially on issues related to the preservation of national identity of these Armenians, as well as on inter-faith solidarity. 

“Multi-faith is one of the problems of the Diaspora. It’s a matter of internal stability,” said Gagik Ter-Harutyunyan, Head of the Noravank scientific-educational foundation. “The examination of the issue is important also from the viewpoint of Armenian Studies,” he added. 

The conference was organized by the Ministry of Diaspora, Hyksos Foundation and Noravank scientific-educational foundation.
