Opposition party wins parliamentary election in Greenland by wide margin

In Greenland, the Siumut opposition social democratic party has won parliamentary elections there by a wide margin. Now that 70% of the vote has been counted, Siumut has got 48.4% of the votes, as against 29.6% of the votes polled by the ruling Socialist party Inuit Ataqatigiit.
The leader of the winning party, 48-year old Aleqa Hammond, will be instructed to form a Cabinet. She will be the first female Prime Minister in the history of Greenland.
She plans to abrogate the law on foreign labour force, increase mineral resource production charges, and also lift bans from uranium production and exports. Greenland is an autonomous area within the Kingdom of Denmark. The population of Greenland makes up 57,000 people, mostly Eskimos.
