Court of Appeals to examine the appeal against the detainment of V. Sedrakyan

The claim of the attorney against the detainment decision of Vardan Sedrakyan who is charged with ordering the assassination of the RA Presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan will be examined by the Court of Appeals on March 18. “Pastinfo.am” was informed from V. Sedrakyan’s attorney Alexander Sirunyan.

The arrest was chosen as a preventive measure against Vardan Sedrakyan on March 5 upon the decision of the Center and Nork Marash court of first instance.

The attorney is sure that the former RA Presidential candidate Vardan Sedrakyan could not have been arrested without the decision of CEC, because at the time of the arrest he was yet considered a presidential candidate. The opinions of the attorneys differ on that regard. There is an opinion that there is a contradiction in the Article 87 of RA Election Code (Rights and responsibilities of the presidential candidates). In particular that the rights and responsibilities of the candidates do not yet mean the status of the presidential candidate, which V. Sedrakyan’s attorney considers as nonsense, Factinfo reports.
