Russian scene designer turns 80

Russia’s prominent stage designer Boris Messerer has turned 80.
In his greetings in connection with the jubilee President Vladimir Putin praised Messerer for his unique, easily recognizable style and his irreproachable artistic taste.

An endowed master of scene painting technique awash with unconventional ideas, Messerer is known far beyond the Russian borders, - Vladimir Putin said.

Birthday greetings have also been extended by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

Boris Messerer is the author of scene designs for more than 150 operas, ballets and dramas staged by major theatres in Russia and post-Soviet republics, Interfax reports.
