Fàbregas the fall guy for Barça crisis
Sport
t has been a rough few weeks for Cesc Fàbregas. He has been the main casualty in the fallout from Barça's mini-rut, during which the 'Azulgranas' were way below-par during losses to Milan in the Champions League and Real Madrid domestically.
The Catalan midfielder failed to get off the bench against 'Los Blancos' at the Bernabéu and during the historic comeback against the Italians at the Camp Nou.
Fàbregas' place in the starting XI had been beyond doubt until Barça crashed and burned in Milan. Before then, he had only missed four league games all season - two through injury (against Atlético and Valladolid) and two in which he was given a breather (against Getafe and Sevilla) ahead of Champions League and Spanish Cup ties.
But then came the San Siro, when Fàbregas was hauled off after 62 minutes. Andrés Iniesta duly slotted into the former Arsenal man's spot, having previously voiced his desire to move back into midfield on a handful of occasions.
