35 missing, feared dead in Comoros boat sinking

Comoros rescue workers looking for 35 passengers thought to be on board a vessel that sank off the coast said they had abandoned the search Saturday.
"We are no longer looking for corpses or survivors," said Ismael Mogne Daho of the Comoros civil protection service.

He added 12 survivors had been recovered and 35 people were missing feared dead.

Authorities in the Indian Ocean archipelago nation received an alert on March 15.
