Funeral for Princess Lilian of Sweden held in Stockholm

Funeral for the late Princess Lilian of Sweden was held in the Royal Chapel at the Swedish Royal Palace in the old town of Stockholm on Saturday, APA reports.

The ceremony started at one o'clock in the afternoon inside the royal church where Princess Lilian's coffin was wrapped in the Swedish flag and decorated with flowers, reported the Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter (DN).

After the ceremony Princess Lilian's coffin was taken in a procession of about 200 meters long to her final resting place, the royal cemetery in Haga Park, located north to the old town in Stockholm.

The members of the Swedish Royal family attended the funeral and also followed the procession to the Haga Park, which is also the resting place of Princess Lilian's late husband Prince Bertil.

Queen Margarethe of Denmark, Princess Astrid of Norway and the Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt also attended the ceremony.

Princess Lilian died at her home in Stockholm last Sunday at the age of 97 and was known by people for her romantic love story with Prince Bertil of Sweden, who died in 1997.

The Princess was born in Wales in 1915 and married Prince Bertil in 1976.
