Armenian Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan handed the presidential medals to Egyptian-Armenian benefactor Vard Aleksanian and Syrian-Armenian pedagogue Hakob Cholakian on Tuesday.
According to a press release by the Ministry of Diaspora, at a solemn ceremony at the Ministry, Hakobyan congratulated the Aleksanian and Cholakian, presenting their years-long patriotic activities to those present.
Vard Aleksanian and Hakob Cholakian, who is also a specialist in Armenian studies, were awarded with Mesrop Mashtots medals by President Serzh Sargsyan on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Armenia’s independence.
The medals were awarded to them for their outstanding contribution in preserving Armenianism, services delievered to the homeland, as well as strengthening friendly ties between Armenia and foreign countries.
