Britain painting identified as self-portrait by Rembrandt
Science and culture
A painting hanging in one of British estates has been identified as a self-portrait by Rembrandt, media reports said on Monday.
For decades the picture, which is on display at Buckland Abbey in Devon, was thought to be a portrait created by one of Rembrandt’s pupils.
But a new investigation of the painting by the world’s leading Rembrandt expert Ernst van de Wetering has re-attributed the canvass as a work by the Dutch Master himself, TASS reports.
