Iranian border guards detain 17 Azerbaijani citizens

Iranian border guards have detained 17 Azerbaijani citizens for an attempt to illegally cross the Iranian and Turkish borders, commander of the Iranian Border Guards, General Hussein Zulfugari was quoted today by MEHR agency as saying.

He said that around 15 men and two women were detained. Iranian smugglers left them at the border area and fled, Zulfugari said.
Iranian border guards rescued 17 Azerbaijani citizens whose lives were threatened because of cold weather and snow, with the support of nearby villagers, he said.
