Italian transport unions to strike

With Italy’s public transport workers going on a 24-hour strike today, local media warn about inevitable delays in train service across the country.
Cabin crews of the nation’s flagship air carrier Alitalia plan to briefly join in the action, which will create problems for the passengers.
Transportation workers are angered by the lingering uncertainty about further state funding for their sector and fear possible wage cuts and layoffs.
