Al-Assad declares this Saturday ‘Day of national mourning’

President Bashar al-Assad of Syria has declared Day of national mourning this Saturday due to the death of a prominent Syrian and Arab cleric and Sunni ally, Sheikh Mohammad Said Ramadan al-Buti and 40 other people in a terrorist attack in a Damascus mosque on Thursday.

A memorial service is due to be conducted at the mosque, while Sheikh al-Buti’s body will be buried next to the grave of a great military leader, Salah ad-Din al-Ayubi, TASS reports.
