Nicole Kidman dresses down in dowdy new role
Science and culture
The Aussie beauty, famed for her red hair and stunning figure, had a make-under for her role as an amnesiac in the psychological thriller Before I Go to Sleep.
Dressed in a dull grey coat and brown boots, with her dyed-blonde mop unkempt and little make-up, she was a far cry from the flame-haired temptress of Moulin Rouge and Nine as she filmed in countryside near London.
The movie – based on the best-selling novel by S.J. Watson – focuses on a 47-year-old mother who wakes every day with no knowledge who she is.
Day by day, she pieces her life together with the help of a diary she writes as she learns new facts about herself.
The film is the second the 45-year-old has shot in the UK in the last 12 months, after the recently wrapped The Railway Man.
And fellow Oscar winner Colin Firth plays her husband in both movies, after Nicole persuaded him to sign up as Ben in Before I Go To Sleep.
The King’s Speech is reunited with Mark Strong – his co-star in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and Fever Pitch – who plays a doctor in the movie.
