Kiev paralyzed by snow

Public transportation in Kiev, Ukraine which has become almost completely paralyzed because of a snowstorm, should resume by Monday.

On Sunday the authorities hope to gbe able to eliminate all traffic backups.

The Headquarters for Emergency Situations in the Ukrainian capital has admitted that it was not prepared for the disaster, and that the city should prohibit the entry of trucks beginning early in the morning on Friday, not on Saturday morning.

It was mainly trucks that became stuck in kilometer long traffic jams.

Snowfall and blizzards have not stopped in the Kiev Region, as well as other parts of the country, since Friday morning.

A state of emergency has been declared.
