The leader of the Seleca rebel group, which now controls the Central African Republic’s capital, has proclaimed himself the country’s new president.
Michel Djotodiya also confirmed opposition politician Nicholas Tyangaye appointment as Prime Minister.
The self-proclaimed president promised to hold “free and fair” elections within the next three years and said that the ministers of the country’s fugitive President Francois Bozize were free to rejoin the government.
“We came to power not to stage a witch-hunt but for the sake of all people of the Central African Republic,” he said.
