Regnum - 1227 Turkish citizens illegally living in Azerbaijan were deported from the country during the past 11 months, Ali Mardanov, Chief of Department of the Internal Affairs Ministry to Combat the Illegal Migration told APA.
According to him, 810 citizens of Pakistan, 333 of China, 222 of Turkmenistan, 42 of Russia, 37 of Georgia citizens were deported from the country during the reporting period of 2011.
Mardanov noted that Azerbaijani internal affairs agencies identified and deported 2874 illegal migrants: “The identification and deportation of 654 of them was implemented together with the State Migration Service. 273 illegal migrants were identified and deported by local police. 28 illegal migrants, who were brought to the criminal responsibility, were also deported from the country. 1919 migrants were found as a result of operation conducted by the Department of the Internal Affairs Ministry to Combat the Illegal Migration”.
Mardanov said the illegal migrants were working mainly in the construction sector: “The number of illegal migrants increased in comparison with the previous year. Recently we were frequently seeing Chinese citizens in the streets, but now the number of illegally living Chinese migrants has been significantly reduced as a result of purposeful measures. The effect of this work is felt. The number of illegal migrants from other countries will decrease in the next years”.
