Abramovich reportedly questioned over FIFA corruption

A prominent Moscow lawyer said Tuesday that Russian business tycoon Roman Abramovich had been questioned by the FBI over suspicions that Russia might have greased the palms of FIFA officials to be granted the right to host the 2018 World Football Cup finals.

No arrest was made Alexander Dubrovinsky added.

After the selection of hosts of the 2018 and 2022 World Football Cup finals FIFA was repeatedly accused of doctoring the voting results but no hard evidence has so far been produced to corroborate the charge.

Roman Abramovich threw his weight behind the Russian bid to host world football’s premier event.
