Venezuela: Maduro urges supporters to vindicate Chavez’s name
World
Venezuela’s Acting President and a leading contender for presidency in upcoming elections Nicolas Maduro has called on his supporters to take to the streets.
The announced purpose of the campaign is to protect the memory and legacy of the late President Hugo Chavez, who died in early March, in the face of alleged attempts to commit "moral murder."
"We are witnessing a gross, illegal and immoral campaign being waged, and encourage people to stand up against it in the streets; to confront the slander campaign against Comandante Chavez, but in a peaceful manner," the Mexican media quote Maduro.
