Drogba likes scoring in Spain
Sport
Didier Drogba is back and he is still a threat. On the day that the Ivorian was officially presented by Galatasaray, Fatih Terim declared that he would need about a month to be back to his best. The Turkish coach feared that at 35 years of age, his recent inactivity might have taken its toll. However, time seems to stand still for this 'Ivorian elephant' who is used to big Champions League games.
Mourinho's mate has a good goalscoring record in Spain. He has scored five goals against four different teams. His goal against Barcelona during the 2006/07 season went down in history when Mourinho dropped to his knees on the sidelines at the Camp Nou to celebrate.
One year later during the 2007/08 season, his goal against Valencia at Mestalla sealed a 2-1 win for Chelsea. Drogba struck again in Spain two seasons later. This time his brace knocked Atlético de Madrid out of the Champions League at the Vicente Calderón.
However, before playing against Barça, Valencia and Atlético, Drogba had already played at the Bernabéu. It was back in September 2003 when he was a promising 23-year-old striker playing for Olympique Marseille. He made his mark that day. Didier scored the first goal of the game and, even though Real Madrid ended up winning 4-2, the African had arrived on the European scene with a bang.
