Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryanon Dec. 20 met with 20 principals of schools adjunct to the municipality. The principals recently assumed office as principals through a contest.
"You have been entrusted with educating and disciplining the citizens of tomorrow, and you must carry out that mission with a heartfelt attitude and honor in order to restore the confidence in the school and teachers," Taron Margaryan noted.
Touching upon fundraisers in schools, the mayor demanded "to do everything possible to rule that out in school" and attached importance to "the work completed through unity and in an atmosphere of mutual trust."
According to the Department of Information and Public Relations at Yerevan Municipality, "Taron Margaryan emphasized that the additional expenses that schools require can be made by saving and through the proceeds from the "Help your School" campaign."
The mayor also mentioned that most of the newly appointed principals are replacing longstanding, distinguished principals and the ones that have had flaws in their work. "We will assess how good you are as principals through your efforts and after seeing helpful citizens decades later," the mayor said.
In their turn, the principals congratulated Taron Margaryan on his appointment to the high office of mayor and assured that they would "fulfill their duties with dignity".
