Russia’s Maria Sharapova has advanced to the semifinals of an international tennis tournament now underway in Miami, Florida scoring a two-set, 7:5, 7:5, victory over Sara Ernani of Italy.

In the semifinal leg Sharapova will will take on the winner of a match between Serbian Yelena Jankovic and Roberta Vinci of Italy.

The second pair features the world’s N1 Serena Williams of the US and the tournament’s fourth-seeded Agneszka Radwanska of Poland.

The prize fund of the Miami tournament exceeds $5 mln.
