The party "Movement Toward Socialism" on Thursday officially nominated incumbent President of Bolivia, Evo Morales, as a candidate for the 2014 presidential elections, reported local media.
Morales himself has stated the process of change in the country, launched with his advent to power in 2006, could serve as an example for the whole world.
One of the first steps undertaken by his Government was nationalization of the oil industry, allowing for a boost in the budget’s social spending.
Morales, an Aymara Indian, is the first president to come from the country’s indigenous majority.
In 2005, he won the election with a 54% result, and in 2009 was re-elected with 62% of the vote.
