Putin: "Corruption should be done away with."

A statement to this effect was made by President Putin as he addressed the participants in a conference of the All-Russia People’s Front in the southern city of Rostov-on-Don, the Voice of Russia’s correspondent reports.

Corruption should be rooted out mercilessly at all levels, Putin said.

As the government is doing its utmost to get the corruption issue off the ground, it has slapped restrictions on civil servants opening deposits and acquiring property abroad.

Public servants will also be required to declare the incomes and their sources.
