RA Minister of Transport and Communication Manuk Vardanyan summarized the passing year.

Minister of Transport and Communication Manuk Vardanyan gave today a press conference summarizing the works of the ministry implemented during the passing year.

The minister said this year they have implemented works of preservation and exploitation of 3300 km-long roads of state significance, tunnels, bridges. The works amounted to 5.33 billion AMD. This year for the first time studies of technologic condition of the tunnels have been conducted for working out corresponding program of events, the minister said.

In 2011 about 62 thousand 74 km-long highways and 6 transport institutions have been reconstructed. Referring to the North-South investment program, the minister said selection of the advisor manager of the program has been declared. After assessment of technical offers of the participants the financial offers will be open after which the winner organization will be selected.

The minister said with the rural roads restoration program implemented with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank about 33.49 km roads have been restored in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik.
